There had been some concern in Tarentum at the beginning of the week that we might see a repeat of the flooding of 2004.

For those of my readers who are not familiar with the places mentioned in Sally's comment, the home on River Road is well above the river level. The water in the cellar was from water coming down the hill behind the house. The home was an old farmhouse, and the cellar has a small trickle of water running through it, but this week the water could not get out fast enough during the heavy rains.

Here is a clickable link to Sally's blog with pictures of the flooding at Mill Street in Cooperstown (not to be confused with Mill Street in Tarentum).

My father tells me that the flooding has disabled the sewage treatment facility in Oneonta, about 15 miles south of Cooperstown. That town is forced to dump their raw sewage into the Susquehanna until they get it fixed. I put up a few pictures that we took from the bridge by the hospital. I wish I had taken a picture of the Pollock home on River Road. When you opened the cellar doors outside, you were looking at several feet of water.

Check out the river in Cooperstown at http://zaenglehome.blogspot.com/Momhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01613703483292797691noreply@blogger.com
