Welcome to my park bench from which we can notice and discuss the traces and signs of God's presence and activity in the Alle-Kiski Valley. Have a seat. Relax and take a look around. Something big is happening, and you are invited to participate.

I'm not very Pittsburgh.
... which is to be expected.
I scored a 32% on the "How Pittsburgh are you?" Quizie! What about you?

Hi Stewart, I scored an 86 percent, but this is going to lead me into the next post you have about New Ken. That is probaly the only reason I scored an 86 is because I lived in New Ken most of my life and in New Ken slang is a way of life, and trust me when I tell you that New Ken is not a place you want to live. Take it from someone that experienced one headache after another from living in New Ken. Maybe the higher class neighborhoods are ok, but the parts I lived in were not. If you ever get a chance ask my kids what they think about when they lived in New Ken.
Connie, I'm sorry to hear that you had negative experiences in New Ken, or anywhere for that matter.
Places can change when the people who live there care about their neighborhoods (or stop caring). Many of the people I saw at the meeting last night were not from the higher class neighborhoods, but I was very impressed at their commitment to making New Kensington work as a community. I like the neighbors I have, but I would also be proud to have the folks I saw at the meeting last night as neighbors.
I scored 70%. Not too bad. They left out questions like Is there an "L" in Pennsavainya?, Do you eat a Perogie?, Do you know what JUMBO is?, and, is there an "X" in PIXBURGH?
Hey, what happened to 'gumban', and 'e'sliberty'? Where I come from we go to the movie, not a show, and I couldn't find any 'jumbo' eggs for my lunch on Thursday. Had to settle for extra large. I'm not sure I'm ready for jumbo shrimp...
Darren, welcome to my blog! It is fascinating the way the internet can reach around the globe and also make connections with people just a block apart.

Gee, Stewart. I live in upstate NY and I scored higher than you. I'm 33% Pittsburgh.

Elphie, aren't there two X's in PIXXBURGH?
And if there were an L in Pennsavainya where would you fit it in?
I guess I'm much too far away from going native.
Reporting in from Ees Trenum with (only) 65%.
