Yesterday I was visiting a shut-in who from time to time has asked to receive tapes of the worship services. It is flattering to think that someone wants to hear what I have to say. She starts to tell me one of the things she likes about my sermons, and I start to prepare myself to receive a compliment.
"You say what you have to say and then you stop."
So one of the best things about my sermons is that they end.
Enough said.
